Another complex area of the sky containing a bevy of deep sky objects. Also imaged in this area is "The Bubble" (NGC 7635), NGC 7538 and NGC 7510. From the NGC / IC Project: Contemporary Visual Observation(s) for NGC 7654 NGC 7654 = M52 23 24 48 +61 35.6 V = 6.9; Size 13 13.1" (9/29/84): 150-175 stars in a 15' diameter, beautiful, appears fully resolved. Includes a few rich clumps near the center. A mag 8 star is on the west side. The "Bubble Nebula" N7635 lies 35' SW. 17.5" (8/2/86): fills 21' field, fully resolved at 105x. - by Steve GottliebHistorical Research Notes / Correction for NGC 7654 NGC 7654 = M 52. The NGC position (from JH) is for SAO 20606, west of the cluster itself. The cluster has a tight core of perhaps a dozen stars, but this is not at the geometrical center of the cluster. Hence, I've listed two positions in the table. Take whichever one seems appropriate to you. - Dr. Harold G. Corwin, Jr. |
