Comments description from "Star Clusters", by Brent Archinal & Steven Hynes is "Archinal: Scattered group of 50-60 faint stars around brightest and center star, TYC 1634 779 1 (V=9.84)." From the NGC / IC Project: Contemporary Visual Observation(s) for NGC 6950NGC 6950 20 41 05 +16 37.3 17.5": very scattered group of mag 9.5-13 stars in roughly a 10'-15' region. Barely stands out in the 20mm Nagler field and not worth noting as a cluster. There are no specific borders but the stars have the appearance of being aligned in strings or groups. Most prominent is an elongated group oriented WNW-ESE through the two brightest mag 9-10 stars (brightest star at 20 41 10.5 +16 38.9). A small line of three mag 13 stars are near the western end of the string. Appears to be a random grouping and listed as nonexistent in RNGC. - by Steve GottliebHistorical Research Notes / Correction for NGC 6950 NGC 6950 looks like a good, if scattered, cluster on the POSS1 prints. It was seen by both WH and JH, and their positions and descriptions agree. Still, no one has included it in a cluster catalogue, and RNGC has it as not found.
