| Notes:* | "Star Clusters", by Brent Archinal and
Steven Hynes, lists the size of this open cluster as 12 arc minutes
... possibly including the grouping of stars to the North of the 'main
body' of the cluster. From the NGC / IC Project: Contemporary Visual Observation(s) for NGC 7086NGC 7086 = Cr 437 = Lund 993 = OCL-214 21 30 27 +51 36.0 V = 8.4; Size 9 17.5": about 75 stars mag 10-14 in a 10' diameter. Fairly rich and contains six brighter stars. Most stars are located in a compact rich 5' group. A second group is to the north. A straight line of stars trails off to the SE with a mag 9.5 star at the end of the string. Includes several faint double stars. There are two large dark voids to the NE. This is a pretty cluster at low power using a 20mm Nagler. - by Steve Gottlieb The dark area to the Northeast (upper left) of the cluster is the most obvious "dark void", however, a CDS query lists only one Dark Nebulae (TGU H554), about 12 minutes almost due South. |
